Chateau La Bastide – Corbieres Rouge 2017
Chateau la Bastide offer a range of superb wines offering great value. The Château La Bastide has been there since 1770, and vineyards are situated at the very northern tip of the Corbières just to the south of the Minervois.
This Corbières Rouge is a blend of 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre. Equally important, all grapes are destemmed and then aged in stainless steel for 12 months. The Syrah produces a lovely rounded supple wine, aided by four months ageing on the lees. 20% of the juice is aged for twelve months in barriques. The Merlot is full of ripe, juicy red fruit flavours.
Overall the wine is dark red in colour. It has ripe red fruits, spice and smoky aromas. Soft, mature tannins, spices, red fruits on the palate. Long finish. Great value for money.
Grape varieties – 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre.
