Bodegas Juan Gil is named after the founder of the family owned company based in Jumilla in South East Spain. Some 100 years after Juan Gil founded it, the winery is now owned by Juan great-grandson Miguel Gil. Monastrell is the flagship grape of their Bodega & 85% of their 500ha is given over to the grape.
This Paco Mulero Monastrell gets 10 months of ageing in French oak barrels. The Monastrell grapes come from 40 years old vines grown in arid chalky soils that make for low yields and intense flavours.
Paco Mulero has a powerful and distinctive nose with aromas of baked strawberry, blackberry and a hint of chocolate. Spice and cedar are layered with juicy ripe plum. Despite the full, ripe fruit and supple tannins, fresh balancing acidity gives the wine an overall lift. A complex wine with great balance, concentration and length.
