John Duval is a legendary winemaker who is only one of 3 people to make Penfold’s ‘The Grange’, Australia’s most famous wine. Having worked for Penfold’s for 28 years, he left in 2002 and set up on his own in the Barossa Valley, producing his first vintage in 2003.
‘Plexus’ is a ‘GSM blend – Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre, which are a classic blend from the Rhone Valley in France. They are also grapes which excel in the Barossa. The Shiraz gives the wine weight and depth. The Grenache, softness and richness and finally the Mourvedre give spice and a good tannic structure.
‘Plexus’ has a deep red colour. On the nose, plum fruits, earthy spicy notes. Lovely rich full-bodied palate with plenty of fruit and ripe, soft tannins. Gentle oaking gives it depth and complexity. Truly lovely wine!
