Champagne Taittinger was founded by Pierre Taittinger after he visited the Champagne region as a liaison officer during World War One and fell in love with the place. The house was sold but bought back by Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger in 2006, so once again family owned.
Champagne Taittinger grow about 50% of the grapes they need for their cuvees, the rest being bought from local growers and co-operatives with whom they have had long relationships.
Champagne Taittinger ‘Nocturne’ is an exceptional “Sec” Champagne. The finished blend includes over 35 “crus” or different growths from several different harvests, perfectly matured.
The wine is aged for at least 4 years and has a rounded quality and maturity, giving it a highly distinctive body and smoothness, making it the perfect champagne to be enjoyed late in the evening.
Champagne Taittinger ‘Nocturne’ is a pale yellow colour with shimmering highlights. The bubbles form a delicate necklace of fine mousse. Its nose is subtle and fresh, suggestive of the delightful aromas of white blossom and ripe fruit, with overtones of yellow peaches and dried apricots. At first the palate is soft and mellow and remains very fresh, then sweet raisin flavours. The aftertaste is long and soft. All in all, a mature, rounded, rich, mellow wine of intense smoothness and elegance.
Grape Varieties: 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
