Something really lovely & unusual for you to try!! It’s made from Georgias’s indigenous grape variety, Saperavi, which is hand harvested from the Kakheti Region (East Georgia). The wine undergoes 7-10 days of fermentation on skins. Once fermentation is complete, the skins are removed from the wine. 50,000 bottles were produced, so we’re not going to run out just yet!
Saperavi is very much its own grape, but it’s often compared to Malbec, Cabernet Franc and even Gamay depending on how it is made. In this case we are firmly in Malbec territory – deep, bright and juicy with dark berry flavours. An unusual grape and unusual wine producing country, but an approachable and delicious wine.
Try enjoying it with a spicy sausage casserole, a juicy burger or other barbequed meats.
